Why Getting Started is Important than Succeeding – Neeraj Malviya Blog #1

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

If people tell your dreams are crazy, if they laugh at what you think you can do, good!

Stay that way.

Because what non-believers fail to understand is that calling a dream crazy is not an insult. It’s a compliment.

Hi, I am Neeraj Malviya and today I want to tell you that you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

You need to believe that one day everything will make sense, and it will count for something big that starts right now, this very moment, in the present.

Being successful has become a want these days. Everyone want to do something and become successful.

But there are very few people who realise that overnight success is the outcome of countless nights, priorities and planning that takes many uninvited sacrifices and the willingness to enjoy this new journey of your life :)

1. Decide your WHY & WHAT

Before you start anything, you should be clear about WHY you want to start and WHAT you want to accomplish.

Do not worry about the HOW, because that you will anyway figure it out on your new journey to SUCCESS!

And when you are clear about WHY and WHAT part, the next step is to determine how long you wish to go.

2. Define your version of Success

It is so important to define what success means to you. Do you have any set target in your mind to accomplish and then stop or just want to keep on going progressively.

For some people taking care of their family is success and for some people buying a new car.

For some it is just the idea of sticking to their routine and for some it is just to be able to help other and give more.

Ask yourself what success means to you and simply move forward!

3. List what you DON’T WANT to do

It is crazy but true in so many ways that we all want to be successful but when we actually sit and think about it, we have no idea from where to begin and how to take the Step 1 which will change everything.

If you have a paper and a pen, quickly join me in this activity or mentally visualize a paper with a straight line in the middle and at the top-left mention ‘Things I don’t like to do’ & on top-right mention ‘Things I like to do’

The purpose of this activity is to de-clutter your head, remove the extra noise and confusion so that you can narrow down and progress to find out what is best for you.

In the beginning, you will find it very easy but as you go down it gets easier.

4. List what you WANT to do

Walla, give yourself a raise for doing it. You should be proud of you for actually taking a step and being accountable of your decision.

Now that when you have your ‘Not to do list’ ready, you are more likely to shortlist ‘Things I like to do’ easily that you feel right for you.

Do not limit yourself. It can be anything. It might feel impossible today but remember that you don’t have to limit yourself just because of your present circumstances.

You can even think to travel on mars with Elon Musk or own a Private jet like Sharukh Khan.

The Final Step : Figure out what is the priority at that moment from your list and give it a practical deadline which you feel that by this Date or Age “I” should be able to achieve it or at least 10% of it.

5. Give meaning to your Goal

Giving meaning to your goal means linking it to something important in your life that will act as a daily fuel to your new journey.

This is the most humble yet important part of your journey to start something new. Something for which you have procrastinated since days , weeks, years.

And to find out that meaning, you need to ask yourself these 3 important questions

a) I am doing this because… [ Here you need to address what made you start this new journey ]

b) I will keep on doing it because… [ Here you need to promise yourself that you will not stop doing it irrespective of what difficulty you face ]

c) I will stop if… [ Here you need to draw a thin line between doing something to grow as a person or stop pursuing because it limit your growth and then re-design your execution plan to accomplish things in a better way ]

It is very important to realise where you need to stop when things do not work in your favour.

For example, if you want to charge your mobile device, you need to plug the charger in the socket right, but imagine if that socket does not work what you will do?

Sit there and hope it will start someday or plug the charger in a different socket?

6. Be your own version

Sometimes your goal might look alike to other people who have did a fantastic job at what they are best at but remember that it is your journey and it has to be your way.

No doubt you can follow what others did but do not get lost so much that you forget your own version in it.

Whatever things you do, know that it has to make you better than you were yesterday.

You should be progressing no matter how slow, remember it is a process and it has to be the way it is. You are not slow nor fast.

It is you working on yourself for yourself and when succeed be generous to share your journey with your fellow friends, family and this beautiful world we all share together.
